You are the manager of the IT division of a large company and are responsible for providing desktop and other support to the various departments and divisions in the company. You have been instructed to calculate an hourly rate for the each of your technicians that includes all of the costs of your division. This is the hourly rate that will be cross-charged to in-house departments when an IT technician provides requested support services. (b) Your salary is R600 000 per annum. (c) The original cost of the equipment your department uses was R 720 000 and it is being depreciated on a straight-line basis over five years. (d) The average hourly rate paid to your technicians is R75 per hour. This excludes the R5 500 per month paid to your administrative assistant. (e) The company contributes R600 per month per person employed in the department for medical aid, UIF, Insurance, etc. (f) Ignore any other costs such as Workers Accident Compensation, company contributions to pension funds, etc. (g) There are 25 maintenance technicians in your department. (h) Maintenance technicians are paid on a 40-hour week. Show all workings and make any assumptions you feel necessary to calculate the cross-charge rate.
