You are to make refrigeration load calculations of ship food stores. The refrigeration system layout is shown on the next page. Despite the fact that the picture depicts three compressors, base your calculations on one compressor running. Refrigeration cycle: Refrigerant is superheated by 7C at evaporator exits of freezing room, fish-meat room, and vegetable room. Refrigerant is sub-cooled by 5C at condenser exit. Compressor's isentropic efficiency is ise. Pressure drop through the condenser and evaporator is neglected. System parameters: Refrigeration loads of the freezing room, fish-meat room, vegetable room and lobby are Qf, Qm,Qv and Ql, respectively. Set temperatures of the freezing room, fish-meat room, vegetable room and lobby are, respectively, Tf,Tm,Tv, and T1 (Do not use set temperatures shown in the figure). Temperature drop of room air through the evaporators is 6C. The sea water temperature is equal to Tsea. Temperature rise of sea water through the condenser is 8C. Determine the followings, a) Show the refrigeration cycle on the Ph diagram delivered by the homework assignment Please note that when the refrigerant pressure is reduced in EPR valves, its enthalpy does not change. b) total mass flow rate of the refrigerant, c) compressor power and COP, d) mass flow rate of sea water, e) volumetric flow rate of air passing through each evaporator Repeat the calculations for refrigerants R134a, Ammonia (R717), R407C, and CO2 (R744). Make a table with your results for each refrigerant and comment on your findings
