Today, you head to the waiting room to call the next client and a young man stands up who immediately tells you he can't afford to pay for his ECG. You ask him to follow you into the clinic room and explain that with a referral and a Medicare card he can be bulk-billed. As you close the door, his poor personal hygiene becomes evident and you are struggling not to react to his body odour. He hands you his referral form and you ask him to identify himself; his address is listed as 'no fixed address'. When you ask him to sign the referral form he tells you he cannot read it and is unsure where to sign. He says he hates doctors and nurses and tells you he has been "forced to come".
