You are working for the networking group of Howard Community College. The College is renting new space in the new Merriweather office building in Columbia MD. There will be new teaching labs set up in this new building, and your job is to create a new subnet for each new lab. For each exercise, you will be given a network and a number of new labs. Your job will be to create the appropriate number of subnets, answer the questions and fill in the network table. There are four exercises.

Exercise 1: Network to subnet 200 201 202/34 Subnet Mask for this network 255.255.255.0 Network Class Number of new labs Class 1.

How many bits will you need to borrow from the host portion to create the required number of subnets? (each bit borrowed doubles the number of subnets.)

2. How many subnets will you create (2 to the power of the number of borrowed bits)?

3. What is the subnet mask for your new sub netted networks?

4. What is the total number of host addresses per subnet (2 to the power of the number of un-borrowed bits)?

5. How many host addresses per subnet are available for devices (the answer to the above question minus 2)

6. Build the network IP Address scope. If there are more than 8 subnets, show the first 8 and the last one. If there are 8 or fewer subnets, show all subnets.

Exercise 2: Network to subnet 197.199 204.0/24 Subnet Mask for this network 255.255.255.0 Network Class Class Number of new labs 8 1.

Exercise 3: Network to subnet 192.168.17.0/24 Subnet Mask for this network 255.255.255.0 Network Class Class C Number of new labs 16

1. How many bits will you need to borrow from the host portion to create the required number of subnets? (each bit borrowed doubles the number of subnets.)

2. How many subnets will you create (2 to the power of the number of borrowed bits)?

3. What is the subnet mask for your new subnetted networks?

Exercise 4: Network to submet 222.49.66.0/24 Subnet Mask for this network 255.255.255.0 Network Class Class C Number of new labs 1. How many bits will you need to borrow from the host portion to create the required number of subnets? (each bit borrowed doubles the number of subnets.) 2. How many subnets will you create (2 to the power of the number of borrowed bits)? 3. What is the subnet mask for your new subnetted networks? 4. What is the total number of host addresses per subnet (2 to the power of the number of un-borrowed bits)? 5. How many host addresses per subnet are available for devices (the answer to the above question minus 2) 6. Build the network IP Address scope. If there are more than 8 subnets, show the first 8 and the last one. If there are 8 or fewer subnets, show all subnets.

Your computer has IP address 221.12.190.21, and subnet mask 255.255.255.128

Your task: find the subnet information for your computer.

1. What is the class of your IP Address?

2. What is the default subnet mask for the class from the previous question?

3. How many bits were borrowed to create the subnet hosting your computer?

4. What is the subnet IP address for the subnet hosting your computer?

5. Given what you know from above, fill in the following table for your computer's subnet:
