You have a job interview in Kitchener for a very lucrative position in a field that you very much want to work in. Unfortunately, the day before the job interview your car breaks down and will require lengthy and expensive repairs. You do not have the funds to rent a vehicle, so you approach a friend who agrees to lend you his car. As you are driving out of the parking garage after the interview you misjudge the distance around a corner and scrape the passenger side door on the concrete, causing serious damage. Note: Please ignore insurance in answering this question and explain your answers fully.

1- What responsibility do you have legally for the damage to your friend's vehicle, and why?

2- Would your responsibility be the same if you had rented the car from a car rental business? 3- Would your responsibility be the same as part (i) if you had borrowed your friend's car to pick up his/her dry cleaning (and not to go to a job interview)?
