You have been assigned as a Project Manager for a new long-term project for a high tech medical-informatics firm focused on biological informatics. Your organization is one that is devoted to managing projects for clients. The new project you have been assigned is for a firm that will require you to hire six new people. The new individuals must have an understanding of the latest medical information systems, more specifically, biomedical information systems. You will be directly involved in the hiring process and then will use the newly hired individual to deliver the project deliverables over five years.

You realize that you must hire the best, and keep them motivated and working for the company for all five of those years. Therefore, you have decided to use a mix of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. Senior management has given you significant leeway in the hiring negotiations (including concerning salaries and benefits to hire the needed people) and in the management of the project in terms of how people can be motivated.

You need to answer two questions.

2.What mix of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation do you think will work best in the hiring process?

3. You are reasonably sure that the emphasis should be on intrinsic motivation during the execution of the project; therefore, what specific intrinsic motivational techniques will you use.
