You have learned a bit about John Maynard Keynes and his ideas that the economy could be managed by managing demand. At a major level his ideas were tested in the Great Depression with increased government spending. This was for roads, bridges, dams and physical items that did improve the infrastructure of the country. Many claim this ended the Depression but many also say this is inconclusive because WWII caused the end. In later times some have used Keynes ideas for other types of government spending of the transfer type. Our GDP work tells government transfers are not counted in that calculation. So pay for a bridge and it goes to GDP but give the same money to people does not. Taking the ideas of Keynes, how they were intended, how they are used and your experience tell us your thoughts in a paragraph or two. Then read and answer at least one other class member's post
