You have recently been named dean of the College of Engineering at a well-known land grant university located in the southern part of the United States. Due to a variety of reasons, the university has done well in recruiting minorities and women both to its student population and faculty ranks in the College of Engineering. The university president has made it clear that one of her top priorities for you is to increase the number of minority and female students in the College of Engineering. What are some strategies you would propose to the president? What legal challenges might these strategies face? How successful do you believe these strategies will be in increasing minority and female students and faculty within the College of Engineering?
