You have recently secured a position in a Community Services organisation called Equality First. Equality First provides short-term, issue-based advocacy support for people living with a disability. The organisation has a strong team of 20 people who have worked with the organisation for an average of 5 years. The values of the organisation are Integrity, Respect, Resourcefulness and Inclusivity. The main strategic objective is to assist individuals with disabilities and their families and caregivers in obtaining and exercising their rights and benefits as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Much of the work assists service users with National Disability Insurance Scheme appeals. Most service users who access the service indent as living with physical, psychiatric, and intellectual disabilities. In addition to advocating and representing service users, a key part of your job is to manage the delivery of weekly information sessions that your organisation provides for the organisation's staff, employees from outside organisations and service users. The people who attend the information sessions are from various backgrounds and educational levels. Previously, staff had complained that the information sessions were not helpful due to disruptive behaviour by other staff and members of other organisations who attended the sessions. There was also difficulty relating to the information provided at the professional development sessions because some people were from non-English speaking backgrounds. In response, you arranged a meeting with the staff last week and developed a strong group agreement to help the sessions run smoothly (use your classes group agreement for this information). Your supervisor has asked you to prepare a communication plan for how the organisation will share information about the information sessions and how they will be run. Your supervisor has also asked you to ensure that the plan: - aligns with the objectives and values of the organisation uses at least one form of digital media promotes the organisation positively to potential service users You have access to an administrative assistant who can help you and a small budget for organising guest speakers and promotional materials. Equality First has an already established website but no social media presence.
