You need to replace a pump for a head tank that pulls water from the ocean up to the top of an aquaculture facility. The head tank needs to supply 20,000 gallons of water to the tanks approximately every 2 hours, and this is done free draining down to the tanks. Part 1. Determine the maximum flow rate and velocity down to the tanks with a full tank with 2.0m water depth. Is it enough to supply the needed culture flow rate? Then, determine the flow rate and relocity down to the tanks when the tank is near its lovreat level of 02m water depth This dounspout pipe is 2 inches in diameter. You must account for friction, assume the gate valve at the end of the downspout is fully open and there is only one elbow; like is shown in the figure. If you need to slow the water, what could you do? What would you do if you needed to increase the water flow rate? Part 2. The pump under water must be able to supply a lot more than the head tank can deliver to aquaculture system othernise it will mefficiently nun all the time. Based on the flow rates you determined in part 1, double the largest amoumt and calculate the pump porver to generate that flow. Again account for friction and assume a fully open ball ralve, and three eloows as part of this pipe. This inlet source pipe is 3 inches in diameter. All pipe in the syatem are PVC.
