You will be preparing a WSIB, EHT and Source Deduction Remittance for your employer.

WSIB is a quarterly remittance. You have three employees, Fred Smith, Jane Cooper and John Counter. They all claim the basic exemptions and have year to date CPP and El amounts listed below.

PART 1: In April the manual method to calculate CPP and El was done with a calculator, pencil and paper. That paper has been lost. Only use the CRA website to determine the source deductions amounts of CPP, El and Tax to be withheld for April. Do not take into consideration any holiday pay.

PART 2: The WSIB rate is 1.04% for Fred Smith and 1.10% for the others. Fill in the WSIB form as a quarterly remittance for January to March.

The pensionable earnings are equal to the EHT earnings. Your employer is not associated with any other company. At the end of the year you will have to calculate the EHT. You are wondering if your company should submit monthly EHT payments instead of annual payments. Your Jan 1 to June 1 payroll only included the three employees, however on July 1 you hired 9 more employees that will earn as much as your current employees YTD (until June 30, 2020). Project the amount of EHT you will have to pay at the end of the year using Jan 1 to March 31 YTD, the current quarter, and the new employees. If you have to remit monthly statements, fill in the form with the monthly information for July. If you have to remit yearly, use your projected numbers to fill in the EHT form.
