PLEASE NOTE: I am nigerian of yoruba culture so please choose an item that i may own. Would be preffered if the person who responds is of the same culture.

We all have a culture and we are all part of cultural groups;

Culture need not be exotic; it may be the everyday;

Culture can be material or non-material; whatever form, culture is closely tied to and associated with attitudes and behaviours

Culture is shared with a group, and if it is to survive, it must somehow be transmitted from person to person, from group to group and from one generation to the next

You should address the following questions in your assignment and/or presentation:

3) How was this culture transmitted to you? How did it become significant to you? /2 marks

4) If it is material culture, are there attitudes, beliefs, values, and/or behaviours that are associated with the object? What are they (provide examples) If it is non-material you should provide a clear example or give a demonstration that illustrates the culture /3 marks

5) Do you transmit this culture to others? How? Will you continue to transmit this culture to others when you are older? Why is it important that this culture is passed on? /3 marks

6) What does this specific culture reveal about the larger pattern or history of your culture or society? /2 marks TOTAL: /16 marks
