You will write a critical reflection (800-1200 words) of the film Poverty, Inc. This was streamed during our schedule class time, but copies are available to rent at Google Play, Vudu, and also available to be borrowed from the Toronto Public Library. It is also available to be purchased from various online sites. This review should contain two elements: (1) a description of what the creators of the film want the viewer to believe is true and their reasons for it and (2) a specific reflection on how this film relates to Peter Singer's "Poverty, Affluence, and Morality" article (available on Blackboard). The movie reflection is due before 11:59 pm on July 18.

Secondary Option

If you were not able to join us during class to watch the documentary, there is a secondary option for you. Your assignment is the same as what you see above, but instead you will watch the lecture by Christopher Coyne, author of the book Doing Bad by Doing Good. That video is available here. The thesis of Coyne's book/lecture is similar to that of the documentary's producers although not identical. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIBLTHpGt0Y )
