Your client ABC Corporation received a letter from the IRS indicating that their 2018 Corporate Income Tax Return has been selected for examination. Your firm was first engaged by the client in 2020 and the prior advisor is no longer available, however, your client has all the records for that year and the tax returns. The letter requests your client appear before the revenue agent on Monday, December 13 at the IRS offices in Detroit. The sole shareholder and president of the company is also a client of the firm. The letter requests your client bring their financial statements and related documentation to the audit meeting.
Your client is very anxious and wants to meet with your firm next week to discuss the letter. You have been asked to prepare an agenda and some discussion points for the meeting. The partners in charge of the engagement wants to see your outline (they love bullet points!) of the agenda/discussion points you think should be covered in the meeting. In the comment section please include some (about 1/2 dozen) items you think should be covered in the meeting.
