Your organization is going through a major renovation. The IT department has been asked to develop a budget for refurbishing the existing computer network. There is also a manager and an administrative assistant in Marketing who need replacement desktop computers. 5. The Administration department has the President, two vice presidents and three administrative assistants. All need new desktop work stations. 6. The IT department has three employees. All three use standard desktop work stations which need to be upgraded. 7. The Fabricating department has the rest of the employees. There are two work shifts in Fabricating so one work station is required for every two employees. Each shift has a shift supervisor. The department also has an administrative assistant. The shift supervisors share a work station, the administrative assistant has their own work station. All work stations in Fabricating need to be replaced. 8. Four of the switches will be upgraded at a cost of $80 each 9. Two of the routers will be upgraded at a cost of $800 each. 10. In addition to equipment costs your budget must also include installation costs. The average IT salary is $29.50 per hour. IT staff are paid time-and-a-half (1 times regular salary) after 37.5 hours in a week. No IT person can work more than 44 hours in any one week. a) Replacing one laptop requires 30 minutes for one IT person on average. b) Replacing one work station requires 60 minutes for one IT person on average. c) Replacing one switch requires two hours for two IT people on average. Replacing a switch has to be done on weekends. Replace only two switches in one weekend. Switches cannot be replaced on the same weekend as routers. d) Replacing one router requires three hours for two IT people on average. Replacing a router has to be done on weekends. Replace only one router in one weekend. Routers cannot be replaced on the same weekend as switches.
