Your paper is comprised of evaluating IBM vs. Google. You can focus on either company, but you must compare it to the other. Take a look at 3 years of history for both the internal and external reviews. Your paper should include: A review of ratios for either one of the companies. A review of financial results over time for one of the companies. A review and comparison of financial results against the other company. A rational look at the relative value of the company's equity versus the other company. This should include your thoughts on whether the valuation difference (as measured by PE) makes sense. At least three insights into the evidence for the valuation difference that explain it and at least one insight that is counterintuitive to the difference.
