Your research project for this course must pertain to a sustainability and/or a social responsibility issue related to this course. Because there are huge areas, please limit the scope. It is recommended that the subject be of interest to you and/or associated with problems encountered by organizations, managers, governments, etc.

The deliverable at the end of the session is a professional-style written research article. This means your work should have the following organization: introduce the topic, review the literature in the subject area, present the research question along with your investigation, analyze the findings, and conclude with your discussion and recommendations.

Instructions:

This initial discussion posting is simply to start developing your research topic:

• The objective is to describe your proposed research project idea and its relationship to the course.
• After providing your contribution, review the ideas presented by your classmates. Respond to at least two of your classmates about their proposed topics. This is an opportunity to assist your classmates. Provide comments and ask any questions.

A general suggestion is that the topic and scope of your research be very narrow. For example, do not attempt to investigate "recycling" because this would cover too many areas and require almost an infinite amount of time. If recycling is your area of interest, select a particular industry, product, locality, problem, etc. Limiting the scope would provide an opportunity for you to gain knowledge in a specific area. Instead of "recycling" general information, a deep dive into a narrow problem would help you contribute to the particular field. As an incentive, quality research articles can be submitted to conferences and possibly published.

Note: You should expect to make modifications to your initial proposal as you delve deeper into your topic.
