Your team's organisation, Awesome IT has been engaged by SAIBT to explore accessible learning requirements for SAIBT's online student newsletter platform. You are invited to explore a range of publishing and communication platforms such as Canva, Visme or Adobe Express (and more) and select a suitable one for the internal project client, SAIBT. Currently, a small working prototype is in development using Moodle. Course websites like your INFT1031 System Requirements Studio (SRS) are developed using the Moodle learning management system.
SAIBT offers first-year undergraduate IT courses for students who may not meet UniSA's direct entry or pre-requisite requirements. As a pathway college, SAIBT specialises in facilitating and addressing the learning needs of diverse student cohorts. SAIBT would now like to offer students a routinely published newsletter to help build a student alumni community and strengthen student voice feedback. This will allow SAIBT to increase their audience for communication and student experience engagement. SAIBT has tasked your team, AwesomeIT to come up with requirements for their new system.
Students wishing to read SAIBT's online newsletter must have an account with the chosen platform to access the newsletter via their website. In order to create an account, students must register and provide various details when setting up their account. These details include their name, a current university student email address, their username and password. They would also be asked if they would like to subscribe to communications by SAIBT's student newsletter committee.
The student newsletter editorial committee is in-charge of publishing the online student newsletter for the SAIBT student community. Members of the editorial committee must also open an account to be able to publish their content. In order to create an account, the editorial committee must register and provide various details when setting up their account. These details include their organisational postal address, name, organisational telephone number, a current email address and credit card details for the platform subscription, an organisational username and password for the organisational account.
Students can provide feedback about the newsletter through completing an online form. The details which must be provided on the form include information on the query such as: a title, description, its category and the username of the person submitting the query.
The system will maintain a list of all published newsletters so that readers can use a search engine to search for topics of interest by title, category, and keyword.
The system will provide secure access for all users and information is to be maintained on secure servers. Any sensitive financial information and private user details stored are not to be disclosed to other users of the system.
When a new newsletter edition is published, the community of enrolled student subscribers receive an email notification. Users can then login and read the latest information on what's happening within SAIBT's student community.
Members of the community can also volunteer to contribute to the newsletter by signing up within the system, where they are invited to pitch their idea, research and publish their creative content.
