Diana Rodriguez posted Feb 23, 2024 3:49 PM # Yy Subscribe The setting was five leaders from different sections working in one building who needed to create a consistent cleaning schedule in which each section did the cleaning once a week to ensure our building stayed tidy. The problem was everyone wanted to be a leader and we could not conclude who that would be to make tie-breaker decisions, etc. The problem began in the initial stage since we could not even decide on a dedicated leader to help make final choices for the schedule The group initially began poorly communicating, we all got defensive as we all wanted to be in charge of the group. We all decided to let the most seasoned platoon sergeant be the leader as they had the most experience. In this situation, we used theses steps from the Seven-Step Framework for conflict resolution: - Step 1 (Identify the Problem): The group recognized there was a problem with deciding on a leader for making final decisions about the cleaning schedule. - Step 2 (Understand Everyone's Interests): We took time to evaluate the level of everyone's experiences and knowledge and to understand all of our interests in having a competent and fair leader. - Step 5 (Select an Option or Options): The decision we came to was to let the most seasoned leader be in charge. Following the full seven-step framework could have likely led to a quicker and less contentious resolution. The framework's structure is designed to ensure that all voices are heard, all options are considered, and a transparent, agreeable decision- making process is followed. We skipped a few steps and it led to our misunderstanding. Reply to Thread x ~ Settings G boutin 9 - piece upholste @ Help X R Dashboard % it o 2 Qa4 O & 3 All Bookmarks
