Zero-sum game is a mathematical representation in game theory and economic theory of a situation that involves two sides, where the result is an advantage for one side and an equivalent loss for the other. In other words, player one's gain is equivalent to player two's loss. The result is that the total sum of improvements of benefit in the game is zero. Fun stuff! Let's get started.......
Player1- Mercenary
Player2- Empire
Empires hire Mercenaries to expand their lands and loot. Mercenaries are under contract to an Empire with a given monthly salary in Solidus monetary coin, as long as the mercenary remains in combat status. A mercenary can negotiate his/her contract with salary and percentages of loot.
You are player 1- Mercenary, negotiating your salary. The range is 100% Solidus salary -0% loot....all the way to 0 salary -100% loot and everything in between. Your job is to gauge the Empire you are hired to, and their potential for conquer and loot :).
Example negotiation:
1000 salary with 5% loot ----->950 salary (1000-5%)+5% loot ---> zero-sum game: 5% is taken from the salary but added to the loot
1000 salary with 25% loot ---->750 salary (1000-25%)+25% loot
etc.....
So the more loot in the shortest amount of time the higher % you will want to negotiate
Longer contracts with less chances of loot, the lower % you will want to negotiate, and collect a higher salary
Write a Python program that calculates whether you are a good Mercenary negotiator, and take as much Solidus for your work; and away from the Empire you work for
