They are located in Hamad Town, Bahrain. Currently the Petro-chemical industry accounts for 80% of their custom, which helps them return an annual turnover equivalent to around 15 million dollars, with a profit margin of 20%. They employ 40 people, due to the age of the workforce; they are likely to see a 35% retirement in the next 4 years and are keen to ensure they do all they can to attract new employees. They have noticed a reduction in business coming from their traditional markets and see the need to expand their business. They see increased exports and expansion into new sectors such as the construction and food manufacturing sectors but need some guidance as to how this could be achieved. They are aware that some of these markets are difficult to move into and have been advised that sometimes it can help if financial incentives are given to help improve their chances of gaining a contract, however the company is very unsure of this approach and any potential future harm this could have on the company's reputation. They are aware that it has been some time since they have been involved in new projects or needed to attract new customers and appreciate, they will need to refresh some of their knowledge and skills. In the context of the scenario consider the following questions Question 1 a. The company has successfully won a contract for the design and implementation of a testing process for a new food manufacturing facility. They are keen to ensure this project is successful and have asked you to identify and explain the activities and checks they should undertake in each of the Four stages of the project management process.
