1. Think of different recent crisis situations faced by the travel industry and consider how they compare with/differ from each other in terms of:

• their likelihood of occurring;

• their effects on different tourism operations;

• their effects on different sectors, e.g. transport, accommodation, etc. of the travel industry;

• their effects on different parts of the tourism system, e.g. destinations, and generating and transit regions;

• their effects on public image and the media attention they received; and

• corrective management actions and their influence on the ongoing and future operational practices of the travel industry.

(Ideally, this is a task for small groups.)
