Exercise – Ask students to have a discussion on the impact of MP3 compression on record retailing operations. Discuss whether this is only a threat to record retailers or whether they could harness the technology in some way. Also, ask them to identify what may happen in terms of business opportunities that could be exploited, and what new operations and process capabilities could be needed.

Alternative – Find an article from the press or from a website (there are usually several published every month), and get the students (in groups) to discuss what new operations and process capabilities could be needed.
