Do high school programs that emphasize science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) lead to jobs? This was a question of interest in the second Longitudinal Study of Young People in England (February 2019). The study included approximately 10,000 students of high school age. Each student was asked which one of seven different areas of study would most likely lead to a job in the future. The percentages (rounded) of males and females who selected each area of study are shown in the accompanying table.
