There are n patients needing a kidney transplant. Kidneys arrive according to a Poisson process with rate λ, and each patient is independently eligible to receive an arriving kidney with probability p. If at least one patient still needing a kidney is eligible then the arriving kidney is given to a randomly chosen one of them; if all are ineligible the kidney is lost. Find the expected time until all patients receive a kidney.
