The centuries-old struggle is between the traditonalists and the rationalists over proper” interpretation of the Quran, and the outcome is in doubt. . . . The fact is that the vast majority of one billion Muslims in the world are committed to genuine Islamic values, like pluralism, freedom, justice, human rights, and above all, democracy.
