Use open-ended questions in which the right answer is not obvious. Ask the applicant to give specific examples of previous work experiences. For example, do not ask, “Are you a hard worker?” or “Tell me about yourself.” Instead ask, “Can you give me examples from your previous work history that reflect your level of motivation?” or “How did you go about getting your current job?”
