Service Grouping
Program or Service: Greeley Fire Department (GFD) Emergency Response Statement of Purpose: Rapid response has been shown to save lives in medical emergencies and reduce property damage in fires. Reporting response times to medical incidents and comparing performance to national standards measures GFD performance. Tracking cardiac arrest save percentages provides an important community outcome. Another principle method to prevent community harm is through reduction of fire loss. Outcomes will be measured by tracking the total number of fires requiring fire department suppression sustained in the community and comparing that with the property value loss.
Program Activities:
GFD will equip response units with most advanced medical treatment technologies and maintain them in a state of readiness strategically placed throughout the community. Additionally, GFD will support activities designed to reduce fire incidence including fire education presentations and modern firefighting techniques calibrated to limit fire spread and damage.
1 This indicator tracks cardiac emergency calls where the patient is in ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation, two life threatening cardiac problems. Based on national averages a 15% survival rate is sought.
2This indicator provides perspective on the fire loss indicator given the total value of the incident property vs. the amount of damage equaling the amount saved.
