The organ donation policy in the United States is based on altruism. It is illegal to buy or sell human organs, so patients who need transplants will have to wait until they find an appropriate donor. In Iran, however, donors are compensated in cash for organs. The United States has a long waiting list for organs while there are hardly any such shortages in Iran. What does this tell you about altruism?
