Canada’s Loblaw Companies Limited, owner of the Joe Fresh brand, was among the companies whose clothing was produced at the collapsed factory. (Loblaw quickly announced that it would pay compensation to the families of victims.) Ethics expert Chris MacDonald responded to the tragedy by saying, “I’m still shopping at Joe Fresh. . . and with a clear conscience.”
