Cell phones and brain tumors, study 1. A case–control study examined the relationship between cellular telephone use and intracranial tumors. The study (completed between 1994 and 1998)

included 782 cases with various types of intracranial tumors and 799 controls with a variety of nonmalignant conditions. Subjects were considered to be “exposed” if they reported cellular telephone use for more than 100 h. The odds ratios (and 95% confidence intervals) for various tumor types were for glioma 0.9 (0.5 to 1.6), for meningioma 0.7 (0.3 to 1.7), for acoustic neuroma 1.4 (0.6 to 3.5), for all tumor types combined 1.0 (0.6 to 1.5).r Comment on these findings.
