One facet of the nursing curriculum at Wright State University requires that students use mathematics to perform appropriate dosage calculations. In a study by Wendy Gantt (A-14), undergraduate nursing students were given a standardized mathematics test to determine their mathematical aptitude (scale: 0–100). The students were divided into two groups: traditional college age (18–

24 years, 26 observations) and nontraditional (25þ, eight observations). Scores on the mathematics test appear in the following table:
