The objective of a study by Abrahamsson et al. (A-22) was to investigate the anti-thrombotic effects of an inhibitor of the plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) in rats given endotoxin. Experimental subjects were male Sprague–Dawley rats weighing between 300 and 400 grams. Among the data collected were the following measurements on PAI-1 activity and the lung 125I-concentration in anesthetized rats given three drugs:
