In a field you find three types of the same plant: some with long leaves, some with short leaves, and some of intermediate length. What would you suspect to be the genotypes of each? You measure hundreds of plants and find that about half have leaves of intermediate length, whereas one fourth have long leaves and one fourth have short leaves. Does this support your estimate of the genotypes? What kinds of crosses would you do to test it further? In each cross, what types of gametes would each parent produce and in what ratios?
