6. Updating Employability Skills 2000+

With the possible exception of the skills related to communicating and using numbers, most of the items mentioned on the Conference Board of Canada’s Employability Skills list relate to soft skills, such as working with others or demonstrating a positive attitude.

a. Why does the Conference Board’s list not include more hard skills, such as accounting or welding?

b. The original list was created about ten years ago.

Suppose that you were given the task of revising it.

Are there any items on the list that no longer apply to all jobs? Are there any items that should be added?
