You are employed as Secretary to the Office Manager of a road-haulage
company. The office staff includes two accountants, seven male and
four female clerks, one secretary and four typists. Staff turnover has
been high, although salaries and working conditions are good. At a staff
meeting it was found that employees did not feel sufficiently involved
in the business. In particular they felt that work could be reorganised so
as to give everyone a more meaningful job.
Following this meeting your employer has asked you to write a short
report summarising the causes of the high staff turnover and suggesting
specific ways for improving staff participation in the management of
the business.
