3. An Ethical Dilemma for Discussion. Most American hotel companies will not contact you if you leave a valuable item behind in one of their rooms. This is done not out of a desire to keep the item (assuming the person who found it turned it in) but to protect your privacy in case you were not where you were supposed to be or in case you were with someone who was not your spouse or family member. Is it ethical for a hotel to act in this manner? Is the hotel engaging in complicity for clandestine meetings?
