As you write, feel free to use pseudonyms or non-identifying information. Each day, describe the following:

A. Give an example of token appreciation you heard someone else say. Why do you think it was token appreciation? How might this person have addressed this situation more honestly and constructively?

B. Give an example of token appreciation that you engaged in.

What were your intentions? Could you have approached this situation more honestly and constructively? How?

At the end of the journal, describe what you learned by assessing token appreciation over the course of a week. List three principles that you think would help people avoid token appreciation and more meaningfully manage differences of opinion.
