epa.gov, the Consumer Product Safety Commission at http://www.cpsc.gov, the Food and Drug Administration at http://www.fda.gov, or the Federal Trade Commission at http://www.ftc.gov).

• Once you have selected a government agency, locate its docket of proposed regulations.

Choose one on a topic that interests you, and read through the proposal.

• Learn as much as you can about the debate for and against the proposed regulation.

Check out such consumer advocacy groups as http://www.citizen.org, http://www.

consumersunion.org, or Friends of the Earth at http://www.foe.org. Find the business perspectives through popular business publications, by using a database such as abinform, or through a trade association such as http://www.Phrma.org (pharmaceutical industry).

• Take a position for or against the new regulation, and submit a written comment to the regulatory agency that has proposed it. E-mail a copy of your comment to your professor.
