Low-fare, no-frills JetBlue airlines had a scandal on its hands in the fall of 2003 when it admitted it had released information about more than one million of its passengers at the request of a private company working on antiterrorism with the Pentagon, Torch Concepts.

The disclosure of customer names, addresses, phone numbers, and flight information was in violation of JetBlue’s own privacy policy.
