Question:

2. To investigate whether epinephrine concentrations (ng/ml) differ between types of anesthesia, 40 laboratory mice were randomly divided into four groups (A, B, C, and D).

Each group received a different type of anesthesia. The arterial plasma epinephrine concentrations were measured. The results are given in Table 9.13. Conduct ANOVA using these data.

(a) State H0 and H1 .

(b) State the assumptions of this ANOVA model and check whether the assumptions are satisfied in this study.

(c) Perform ANOVA and interpret the results obtained.

(d) If the overall F-test rejects H0 , how do you choose an appropriate method to further compare the population means of the different groups? Calculate the Type I error if the independent samples t-test was employed for multiple comparisons in this case?
