Reasons for being late. There are three oft-used reasons given by university students for being late to class: “I got stuck in traffic,” “I overslept,” and “I overlooked my timetable.” A survey was conducted based on the duration

(in minutes) of students being late to class citing each of the three reasons at a university, and the following summary statistics was obtained:

a) Does it appear that the mean duration of university students being late for class due to traffic is more than that due to oversleeping? Test an appropriate hypothesis, and state your conclusion.

b) Create a 90% confidence interval for the mean difference in the duration between students who give the reason of being stuck in traffic and those who state they overlooked their timetable. Interpret your interval.
