Lithium-iodine batteries are particularly useful in situations in which small amounts of current are required over a long period of time. One such application is in a cardiac pacemaker (Fig. P19.7), where changing a battery requires a patient to undergo an operation. Typical pacemakers require 0.50 mA of continuous current. If a lithium-iodine battery is capable of supplying 0.50 A · h of charge, what is the lifetime of the battery? Does this lifetime seem sufficiently long?
