Ask students to come up with a list of products or services that people primarily buy because they want to “belong.” Have them explain why they listed the particular items. Then, have them explain how individuals in solitude might also consume each of the items that they listed. Are there viable needs that consumers have for consuming these products both in the company of others as well as by themselves?
