Ella Holt wrote Glenda Burchett two checks in July 2011. The checks were in the amounts of $25.00 and $20.00, respectively. Burchett subsequently altered the amounts on the check, changing the amount of the first check to $2,500.00 and changing the amount of the second check to $3,020.00 before cashing the checks at Holt’s bank, Community Trust Bank.

Community Trust Bank sent an account statement to Holt on August 23, 2011 showing the checks for $2,500.00 and $3,020.00.
