According to the late economist Julian Simon, “every time our system allows in one more immigrant, on average, the economic welfare of American citizens goes up… Additional immigrants, both the legal and the illegal, raise the standard of living of U.S. natives and have little or no negative impact on any occupational or income class.” Despite this statement, many are still against immigration to the U.S. In fact, the U.S. has quotas on the number of people that can immigrate to the country.
