Post Position and Winning Horse Races Many people believe that when a horse races, it has a better chance of winning if its starting line-up position is closer to the rail on the inside of the track. The starting position of 1 is closest to the inside rail, followed by position 2, and so on. The accompanying table lists the numbers of wins for horses in the different starting positions. Test the claim that the probabilities of winning in the different post positions are not all the same.
