A California client of an international market research agency has asked it to conduct primary research into consumer perceptions of the Internet purchase of home improvement products. The U.K. office of the agency has recently completed a similar study for B&Q (a British DIY home improvement company) that confirmed earlier published research undertaken for Home Depot. Should the market research company do the primary research as requested? If so, should it discuss the findings of the Home Depot study and that its own research has already confirmed its validity?
