There are at least three possible explanations of this situation:

a. The IT department'’s objection is legitimate; it wants only Oracle used on its network. It will not support any other server DBMS.

b. This issue is bogus, and the IT person is using it to avoid work. In this case, he’s taking advantage of Dee’s lack of knowledge.

c. The IT person is inexperienced and is blindly enforcing a corporate data standard. He does not understand Dee’s proposed use of MySQL and why it might qualify as an exception.
