1. How might other charities be able to build momentum for fundraising like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? During the hot summer of 2015, millions of people worldwide cooled off by dumping a bucket of ice water on their heads-go figure! It all started with the fi rst dunk by Peter Frates, a former captain ofthe Boston College baseball team who suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS as most people know it.

After Peter dumped his bucket, he challenged famous sports figures to do the same in his online video. From there it took off as many others joined in by challenging their friends and family;

and as more and more people saw the videos of people dousing themselves, the donations started roll ing in.
